OFFICE CLOSURE NOTICE:  FUNERAL OF DR ROBERT A. MATHAVIOUS, OBE

Tortola, British Virgin Islands – Friday, 10 October 2025 – Further to earlier press room correspondence from the BVI Financial Services Commission (the Commission) regarding the passing of Dr Robert A Mathavious, OBE - founding Managing Director and CEO of the Commission; Industry participants and the general public, are asked to take note that Commission offices (British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong) will be closed to the public on Thursday, 16 October 2025.

This office closure will allow Commission staff to gather to honour and pay respects at the funeral of Dr Mathavious, who for decades served as a significant driving force in the evolution and development of, and advocacy for, the Territory’s flagship financial services sector.

The Commission appreciates the public’s understanding of the reason for the temporary closure. Normal business operations will resume on Friday, 17 October 2025, at 8:30 a.m.

The Commission further advises that its physical and virtual condolence books will remain open to the public until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 15 October 2025.
