Licensing and Supervisory Committee
The Licensing and Supervisory Committee is the Commission's authorisation arm, responsible for assessing all applications for licences and certificates to operate in and from within the Territory. It protects the interests of depositors, investors, consumers and the BVI itself.
To receive a license or certificate, individuals or business must meet relevant BVI laws and/or policies established through international regulatory organisations. The licensing process is highly selective and eligibility is restricted to organisations with adequate capital and systems, and sound ownership and management.
The Committee maintains ongoing supervision of authorised entities to ensure continuous compliance with relevant laws and regulations. It also publishes names of regulated individual and businesses.
All the Committee's actions are determined on the basis of consensus. In the absence of unanimity, the matter is referred to the full FSC Board for resolution.
